Concluding their successful 20thanniversary season, the San Fernando Valley Master Chorale presents Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concertand a tribute to Dwight Elrich’s The WOW Piano, Saturday, May 29 at 8PM at Pierce College’s Theater on the Hill, 6201 Winnetka Avenue, Woodland Hills.

Joining them will be the Pierce College Jazz Band (Paul Colicchio, Director), tap dancer Chester Whitmore, and soloists Theresa Danne and Mihoko Tokoro. The composer wrote three sacred concerts for his band, accompanied by a choral group.  Under the direction of Terry Danne, the Chorale will be performing a compilation of the three compositions.  The well-known Come Sunday, which received critical acclaim in the Beverly Hills Outlook for the group’s performance at the Ford Amphitheatre, along with Whitmore’s dance antics, will bring back memories of the Chorale’s 20 years of concertizing.

Dwight Elrich, long-time accompanist, pianist and arranger, will be featured posthumously in the concert.  Maestro Danne, Dr. Gerald Eskelin, director of the Grammy award-winning Los Angeles Jazz Choir, Guest Pianist Carol Anderson and many guest singers and musicians will gather to honor Dwight with pictures and song.  His recent CD, The WOW Pianowill be featured and the concert will be dedicated to his memory.
